FC Utrecht Chairman, Jan Willem van Dop, has announced that he will leave his post at the Stadion Galgenwaard on September 1. Dop thinks that his time with the Utreg has ended, as he has remained the Chairman and Chief Executive of the club since his arrival in 2005.
Dop started with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam in 1996-97 season as a finance director. However, after two years he was promoted to the post of director general affairs at the Feijnoord Stadion. He stayed with De Stadionclub for nine years before joining the Utreg.
During his six years stay at the Stadion Galgenwaard, the Utreg always finished in the top ten Eredivisie sides and managed to play in the UEFA Europa League thrice. However, it seems like the former Feyenoord Rotterdam director general has made his decision to quit.
Dop said, “It was a great time at FC Utrecht, with many highs but also lows. In recent years, we have made great steps in building the team and it looks like we have succeeded in doing so. The start of the next season seems a good time to say goodbye.”
The Utrecht outfit are currently placed eighth in the league table, holding the last Europa League berth spot. With nine points left to play for, the Utreg would be looking to end the season on a high note and play in the Europe’s secondary club competition.
The Utreg supervisory board respects the choice of Van Dop to leave the club. The Chairman of supervisory board, Jacquec Ek, praised the work done by Dop in the past six years. Reports suggest that Dop wanted to leave his post immediately, but the Utreg supervisory Board requested him to stay with the club until the start of the next season.
Jacqeus Ek said, “We respect Jan Willem van Dop decision to quit. We are pleased that he accepted our request to stay with the club until September. We have begun to search for a successor as general manager.”
The Utreg board has to find a perfect man for the job before the next season. They have almost four-month’s time to locate a successor as general manager and will be hoping that whoever replaces Dop, ensures to work for the betterment of the team in the coming years.
