The left-back, who can also play on the left-midfield position, has slipped behind Davy Bulthuis in the pecking order since the arrival of Jan Wouters, who took over from Erwin Koeman in October 2011.
Zullo has admitted that it is not easy to sit on the bench regularly while revealing that the motivation behind moving abroad for him was to cement his place in the National side.
“That was completely and entirely my motivation for moving overseas. That was always my main goal to play for the Socceroos and to play in a World Cup. In order for me to do that I need to be playing matches week in and week out and be in my best condition.
Hopefully it gets resolved in the next few months and I get playing again”, Zullo was quoted as saying to the media.
Bulthuis is suspended for the Utreg’s upcoming encounter against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Groningen-c39119, and the 23-year-old left-back is anticipating a start in the match.
“Hopefully I will be in line to play this weekend ... And I can put in a good performance and stay there for the rest of the season. I am not comfortable with not playing at this stage of my career and the club know that”, Zullo concluded.
The Australian stopper has thus far made 18 appearances for the Utreg and has an ongoing contract that will keep him at Stadion Galgenwaard until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
