FC Utrecht’s Van Seumeren reveals Ton du Chatinier must not fear about his future – Eredivisie news
FC Utrecht’s majority shareholder, Van Seumeren, has mooted speculations suggesting http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ton-c35408 du Chatinier’s departure from his managerial position at the end of the season. Seumeren revealed that Chatinier’s position at the Stadion Galgenwaard is safe and he can lead the Utreg next season should he wish to continue.
The Utrecht outfit lost sight of eighth place in the Eredivisie table after losing 3-1 to the struggling SBV Excelsior on Sunday, May 1. The eighth spot in the league table guarantees participation in UEFA Europa League play-offs and it seems like that Chatinier’s men need all the luck they can garner to finish in the top eight Eredivisie sides.
After the Utreg’s loss to the relegation contenders, rumours are rife that the 53-year-old tactician could lose his job at the end of the season. Moreover, the Utreg fans are also calling for his scalp after a humiliating loss that has very likely snatched European football from them. However, Seumeren has shown great confidence in the trainer.
Seumeren said, “We wanted to finish between third and eighth spot and I expected we would be stronger this season. However, we must work on building the team for the future. For me, there is no turning back. This season, Chatinier is still safe, but the question is whether he may continue hereafter.”
The 53-year-old tactician has shown no intention of leaving the club at the end of the season in spite of the season ending on a disappointing note. Chatinier said, “I have a contract of one year still remaining. Why would I be leaving? My relationship with Seumeren is fine and we have no problems with each other.”
FC Utrecht sit ninth in the league table, trailing eighth placed SC http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar in front of their home crowd on Sunday, May 15.
