  1. There are testing sites all over the country. Here is the link. You can contact one of these providers to find testing in your area.

    http://wireless.fcc.gov/commoperators/te...

  2. Look for ham radio test prep solutions like http://www.hamexam.com. Many of them also cover the commercial exams. The strategy for any of these government multiple choice exams is the same... Get the question pool and the answers from wherever you can get it (they're available in many cases from the FCC), throw out the wrong answers and study the questions and correct answers. Go through all the questions at least three times within a week or so of taking the test and you'll pass.

It's usually easier to do the math than to memorize the numerical answers, so if there are formulae to be memorized and applied you might find it easier to actually study that. But then you probably need that for your job anyway.

There may be whole categories you can toss out. For example on the ham tests there are only a couple questions on some topics in the entire pool. You can figure your chances of getting one of those on your actual test is small and just not bother studying that topic (I'm an Extra Class ham and don't have a clue what a "smith chart" is). If you do get one of those questions you have a 25% chance of getting it right if you guess, and even if you get it wrong it's just one question. You only need 70% or 75% to pass.

I'm not suggesting that you don't try to understand the material. I'm saying the test is a formality that you just need to get past. Then you can work on learning the portion of the material you really need to know for practicing your profession, whatever that is.

  3. He asked for a course, not a test facility.

Did you google it? I just studied a book and had some recorded cassettes I listened to.

Just a tip when you test. Get in and write down all the formulas that you can remember as the first thing you do. They give you paper. That way, when you need the formula, you won't have to think about remembering it when you have a question in your head.

One more thing I remember from the test, there was temp question, converting 80 degrees Fahrenheit into Celsius.
