  1. he said that after the bombings on pearl harbor.

he is basically saying that it will go down in history and not be forgotten.

  2. He said, "Yesterday, December seventh, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

He was referring to Japan's unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the United States being drawn into World War II.

  3. infamy.an evil act.the Japanese sneak attacked and bombed Pearl Harbor Hawaii..................on 12/7/1941..........Hopefully your not Americam...............

  4. Infamy is something of evil fame and the attack on pearl harbor was certainly that

  5. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.  It will live in "infamy" because it will always be remembered as a day when a horrible, evil deed was done.  If it was a happy event, you wouldn't say infamy.

  6. Since the Japanese were using their diplomats to deceive President Roosevelt in Washington into believing Japan would not attack Pearl Harbor; and since the Japanese emperor did not tell his own Diplomats that they were in fact going to bomb Pearl Harbor in a sneak attack; and because most of the American Pacific fleet was in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack and were sunk, and because several thousand sailors and marines were murdered in this attack then the whole world would know that the Americans were duped.  Now when something of this magnitude happens it is very bad and rather than say the j**s were famous for doing such a heinous thing, we say they were infamous meaning very bad.

So President Roosevelt was telling the American people that we were going to war with Japan because we were ambushed and they needed to be taught not to "Wake the sleeping lion".
