Question:

FE Exam Question?

My school requires students (except for EE and Industrial I think) to pass the FE exam prior to graduation. We also have to pass a basic engineering competancy exam before moving onto our upper division courses. Is this common in engineering schools around the country? I'd also like to here some words of wisdom about the FE from those of you who have taken it.

  1. I graduated from NC State and we didn't have to take the FE or a competency exam. We just had to pass all the core classes. They do recommend to take the FE though.

I did take it and it was a beast. I passed on the first try through! It's very common for people to have to take it multiple times.

Get an FE prep book and take a prep course. The only thing that will work in preparing is to do practice problems and practice tests. Get a good night's rest and get ready for one of the most challenging exams you will ever experience.
