FEMA Water Damage question?

I live in Rock County Wisconsin and FEMA recently has been giving assistance to our County and several sounding counties. I don't live near the water ie: lake river etc.. but with all the water that we have been getting my eves trough can't handle it and they are failing. My basement is finished and the water has leaked numerous times into my basement through a window at ground level. I believe I may have carpeting and drywall issues because of this Does FEMA cover just the individuals that live near water or everyone that is affected. PLEASE DON'T ANSWER WITH A NUMBER TO CALL OR TO TELL ME TO CONTACT FEMA I WAS JUST LOOKING FOR AN OPINION I ALREADY HAVE THE NUMBER.

  1. If you mean, does the national flood insurance plan cover only people near large bodies of water, the answer is no.  Is your particular community eligible for coverage?  Well, you'll have to ask your agent.

NFIP is the ONLY place to get flood insurance.  HOWEVER, generally, if your house is the only house with water leaking into windows in the basement, likely that wouldn't be covered by a flood policy anyway.

Sounds like your problem is a leaky window, and you are going to need to fix this.  Sometimes, if the storm damages the window, and that lets the water through, the ensuing water damage is covered by your homeowners policy.

Bottom line - you're going to HAVE to talk to your own homeowners agent.
