  1. Fertile can be a general term to describe a woman who is able to bear children or a man with healthy sperm who is able to impregnate a woman.

It is also used to describe the time during your cycle when ovulation occurs. When you are ovulating (or approaching ovulation), you are at the fertile point in your cycle. Ovulation is necessary in order to get pregnant. Without ovulation, there is no egg to be fertilized.

As far as the signs that you are ovulating - some women get some minor pains or cramps when they ovulate (on the side they ovulated from), but that takes a lot of awareness and knowledge in order to recognize. The only way to know for sure when you ovulate is to use an Ovulation Prediction Kit or to chart your basal body temp. You can also monitor yourself for signs of Egg White Cervical Mucus, which occurs around and during ovulation. It is clear, stretchy and slippery and is the ideal environment for sperm to survive in and travel through.

I HIGHLY recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". You will learn a lot from it, and it seems you could definitely use the extra knowledge. Good luck!

  2. being fertile means you are able to get pregnant.when you are fertile your civical mucus is like egg white and stretchy.you could be fertilte about a week in every cycle ,5 days before ovulation and about 2 after.ovulation occurs 14 days before a due period.

it is best to do waking temp charts and opk's to find out exactly when you ovulate.a site that helps you do this with charts is

    fertilityfriend.com

a fertility doc likes you to have charted for 6 months before taking you on so get cracking as you may need there help if no luck after charting for 6 months.

ask about a sperm count for your partner.

    why only 2 yrs?

  3. Well the difference is that ovulating is only a 48 to 72 hour window for you to get pregnant, it is the most fertile time to concieve. But you can ovulate and not be fertile by complications. That would make you infertile. There are many reasons to be infertile. Blocked tubes, cysts on ovaries, eggs not being produced etc. There are no signs of being fertile just by looking at you. Getting pregnant is a sign, other than that you would have to be tested by a fertility doctor. Hope this helped!

Why do you only have a year to get pregnant?

  4. Being fertile means that you are able to have a baby.

Ovulating means that you have an egg cell that releases and joins with the sperm to form an embryo which becomes a baby.

You will ovulate around 10 - 14 days before your NEXT period, so if your cycle is 28 days long it will be between day 12 and 16 of your cycle. You can watch the mucus that comes out, when it looks like egg white you have a good chance to fall pregnant.

But why the rush dear? Stress is a big reason why many people don't fall pregnant. Perhaps you and your husband should go for fertility testing too. There may be other underlying factors contributing to you not falling pregnant.

Most of all you NEED TO RELAX!!! I know what it feels like to do repeated negative tests, we've been trying to fall pregnant for more than 2 years. I didn't ovulate but I ovulated for the first time EVER last week, so I'm anxious to test next Friday.

Relax and take it easy, go see a doctor to test you to see if you're ovulating and to check your husband's sperm count.

Google "Fertility testing" and it will tell you what you will experience. It's not that bad, and getting the peace of mind or understanding is priceless!

    Good luck!!!
