Do you think the FIA just penalise Mclaren easy ?

If it was not shown on the TV coverage, would they have picked up on this move ?

Seems as if Motor Racing is now boring

Why dont they rename it... FORMATION 1 ??

I have watched F1 for 30 years and its spoiling the sport

Rules are rules

But are rules not meant to be broken

If it was shumacher chasing from behind, I think there would be nothing said

  1. Hamilton overtook Vettel before going over the track therefore did not gain or lose anything so no penalty should have been given

Heikki's Penalty is to show how Biased the Race Stewards/FIA are to other teams

Webber made it in Q2 so what was the point they wasn't qualifying for race position was they as webber clearly went into Q2

  2. Marti Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes you really are blinded by your support for McLaren. They said that Heikki deserved his penalty, their only complaint was why Nakajima didn't get one too.

And Hamilton would gained an advantage by cutting the chicane and not letting vettel back past, thats why he got his penalty, which was justly deserved.

  3. The team should have told Lewis to let him re-pass than there would have been no other penalty.

  4. I think the Hamilton penalty was justified as he gained a place and didn't stay on the track.  But Im suprised that Ferrari were not told to pull off kimi's exhaust, as a piece of metal flapping about like that was clearly dangerous

  5. I can't stand Hamilton but even I see it as an unfair penalty!

  6. Hamilton has passed Vettel on track but out braked himself and had to go on the green to avoid DC, he should of then let Vettel pass and race on to 6Th place, penalty deserved, what was he playing at (again).

Kovalinens penalty yesterday, on the other hand was not deserved as he has nowhere to go, did his best which is more than Nakajima did, which in the long run, didn't hinder Webber as he got another lap in.

  7. I've just seen a replay and Lewis was clearly past him, THEN he got on the green stuff.

To be fair,  he should've erred on the side of caution and let him back through and overtaken him again.  He had a pig of a race.

A shame, but dems de rules

  8. The customary penalty for the Vettel situation would be to let the driver (Vettel) repass.  IF the pass was related to the chicane cut.  It is debatable whether this was or was not the case here.  A close call either way.  If the stewards felt a re-pass should occur they should have said something.  Just because they dithered for a couple of laps is not a fair basis for hitting the guy for what is initially a 20 second penalty, on top of which he than has to re-pass half a dozen drivers.  This made it more like a 40 second penalty.

Laughable that a bunch of part timers with unknown loyalties can ruin a race like that; yet further evidence of the need for professional stewards that travel with the F1 circus.

  9. He should have given up that position when gained unfairly. It was pretty much the same courtesy in the last 15 years.

But we are talking about Hamilton, right? He doesnt care about rules, he is racing!!!

Fair deal pal, that dude needs to learn to respect the rules of the game or he will be made to respect it as being shown.

  10. It was a fair penalty. I've seen other drivers in that situation drop their pace to let the other car get back into position, Lewis didn't do this, he had it coming.

  11. I don't think Hamilton would've passed Vettel if he hadn't been carrying to much speed into the corner - so the penalty, IMHO, is fair.

But I do think that the FIA stewards are a little biased towards Ferrari over McLaren.  Kimi's exhaust could have so easily killed someone - it should've been dealt with...

  12. Lawless Hamilton may have pass Vettel by an inch by out-braking him in the chicane that cause him to straight-line it...

thus he had gained an advantage...

of course the stewards deliberated it before concluding the penalty imposed...

letting Vettel to make a re-pass on LH was out of the question since it should be done within the lap and LH failed to imposed it himself...

i have seen a lot of drivers straight-lining chicanes to avoid accidents but they always let the other drivers re-pass them because it is the rule...

Lawless clearly needs to learn a lot...

  13. Ive seen them penalize Michael before for stopping during qualifying

  14. The FIA are not behind the penalties, they were decided by the race stewards, and in any case I don't see why FIA would show such pettiness.

It's just that every time McLaren gets a penalty all the hard done McLaren fans from last years' spy saga will feel inclined to bust our chops with every opportunity.

Always backed up with a bunch of ifs.

You pass someone on the track, Lewis was too busy trying to wow the world to worry about that, he should have slowed down, but just had to make up ground on the leaders.

    Another lesson learned.

You think they wouldn't have penalized Schumacher?

Anyone can think what they like, is that supposed to prove something?

Schumacher had a long career how many times did you see him do "a Hamilton?"

  15. i dont think that the penalty was really fair, but i could see why a penalty was given. Lewis only made up 3 places in the end and i dont think that the penalty made a difference to that.
