FIA underplay unethical expression of Sebastian Vettel at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
International Automobile Federation (FIA) has underplayed the claims regarding penalising Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel for his conduct at 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix held at Sepang International Circuit.
During the race, due to a clash with Narain Karthikeyan of HRT, the two-time world champion, Vettel showed his middle finger to the Indian driver.
Moreover, after the race he passed an arrogant remark about Karthikeyan and called him ‘cucumber’. Nevertheless, the defending champion faced huge criticism as a result of his arrogant behaviour in the second GP.
Furthermore, Helmut Marko, the motor racing consultant of Red Bull, hit back on the speculations that there are chances that Vettel can be penalised by FIA for his unethical behaviour and breach of the code of conduct, and said, “The matter was resolved
during the meeting with the stewards (in Malaysia). For me, the case is closed.”
Nonetheless, and FIA spokesman affirmed that FIA’s code of conduct prohibits the holders of super licence from expressing unethical remarks about their contenders while he added, “I imagine the application of this paragraph was considered by the stewards
in Malaysia.”
However, the spokeswoman of Vettel said that they didn’t know about any kind of enquiry.
It would be important to mention that Adrian Sutil, former Force India driver passed comments in support of Vettel.
“I can understand him [Vettel]. I was often angry when I was lapping people, when they make no room for you while they are fighting for places that have almost no significance,” said Sutil.
Besides, Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg also expressed his views in favour of Vettel.
“I think Vettel was just emotional at that point [in] time. At the end of the day, he is just human and sometimes you get emotional,” said Hulkenberg.
Red Bull has won the last two world championship titles out of which they remained completely dominant during the preceding season as they managed to secure 11 victories out of 19 races with Vettel.
However, they are struggling with finding their true potential in this year for which they need to work hard in order to get back to the front.
