FIBA EuroBasket Roundup Day 5: Poland and United Kingdom win (Part-1)

Poland 84 – Turkey 83
Poland recuperated tremendously in the fourth quarter and dazzled Turkey to clinch a thrilling 84-83 victory in the day five of the European Championship.
The young shooting guard Dardan Berisha turned out to be the highlight of the night as he erupted with a game-high 21 points to power Poland in a breathtaking win. The 27-year-old power forward Adam Hrycaniuk teamed up with the
sharp-shooter Dardan and added 15 points to the score board to keep the offensive system running.
Turkish basketball player Enes Kanter, who was drafted by Utah Jazz with the third overall pick in this year’s NBA draft, was the top performer for Turkey. Kanter landed 19 points and dished out 3 assists in less than 23 minutes
of playing time however his efforts resulted insufficient in the end.
Adam Hrycaniuk and Szymon Szewczyk started the domination for Poland in the first quarter and ended the period with 17-14 lead. The star performer Dardan carried the momentum in the second quarter and also buried two blistering
blows from beyond the arc which helped Poland to seal 39-35 advantage going into the halftime.
Enes Kanter and Ersan Ilyasova picked up the slack for the Turkish National basketball team in the third quarter and smashed the opposition with a 27-point blitz to snatch the lead 62-61. After an exciting comeback, Turkey was
racing away towards the victory with 83-82 lead in the defining moments of the game. However Berisha surged with a two-point shot in the last 12 seconds and gave Poland a brilliant victory.
United Kingdom 85 – Portugal 73
Chicago Bulls prolific small forward Luol Deng blistered away with a game-high 21 points and clutched 10 rebounds to spearhead United Kingdom for their first victory in the European Championship.  United Kingdom improved their
record to 1-3 on Sunday after a comprehensive 85-73 win over Portugal.
Michael Lenzly provided a substantial support down the stretch to the NBA superstar and landed 17 points to keep the score board ticking
On the other hand, Carlos Andrade and Miguel Minhava posted impressive performances and netted 24 and 18 points respectively for Portugal. However, the instrumental duo failed to match the brilliance Luol who almost ripped apart
Portugal single-handedly.
Both the teams headed out with their full strength in beginning which ended the first quarter in a 16-16 tie. Accompanied with the brilliance of Deng, United Kingdom outplayed Portugal in the second quarter and wrapped up a comprehensive
10 points lead as the game progressed into the second half.
The third quarter showcased another outstanding domination from United Kingdom and they amplified the lead to 59-45 before entering the final quarter. The fourth quarter was left more of a formality for the United Kingdom as the
Portugal only managed to reduce the deficit by 2 points which gave United Kingdom a comprehensive 85-73 win.
