FIBA Worlds stats leaders
The group stage of the 2010 FIBA World Championships is over and 16 teams have qualified for the knock-out stage of the tournament. Let's take a look at the statistical leaders after the first round of competition.
Leading the tournament in scoring is Argentina's Luis Scola, who averaged 29 points in five games. The Houston Rockets forward scored at least 30 points in Argentina's last four games in Group A.
At No. 2 is New Zealand's Kirk Penney, who is averaging 25.4 points per game. The veteran shooter also holds the single-game scoring record in the tournament with 37 points, which he achieved in their opening-day loss to Lithuania.
In third spot is China's Yi Jianlian with 22.5 PPG while Iranian centre Hamed Haddadi is in fourth place with 20 PPG. Rounding out the top ten are the United States' Kevin Durant (17.8), Argentina's Carlos Delfino (17.4), Lithuania's Linas Kleiza (17.4), Puerto Rico's JJ Barea (16.8), Turkey's Ersan Ilyasova (16.5), Brazil's Leandro Barbosa (15.4), Lebanon's Fadi El Khatib (15.4) and Spain’s Marc Gasol (15.4).
In the rebounding category, Jianlian leads all players with an average of 9.8 per game. The Washington Wizards forward hauled down 14 rebounds against Greece to tie three other players for the single-game record in the tournament. Angola's Joaquim Gomes, Russia's Sasha Kaun and Iran's Arsalan Kazemi were the other players who accomplished the feat.
In second place is Ilyasova with 9 RPG while Haddadi is in third spot with 8.6 RPG. Jordan's Zaid Abbas is in fourth place with 8.4 RPG while Turkey's Omer Asik and Scola are tied in fifth spot with 8.2 RPG. Also making the top ten are Australia's David Andersen (8), Canada's Levon Kendall (7.6), New Zealand's Thomas Abercrombie (7.4), Spain's Rudy Fernandez (7.4) and Kazemi (7.4)
Brazilian point guard Marcelinho Huertas leads the tournament in assists with 6.6 per game. Argentina's Pablo Prigioni is in second place with 6.4 APG followed by Spain's Ricky Rubio (6.2) and Jordan's Osama Daghlas (5.6) and Russia's Anton Ponkrashov (5.6). Barea is in sixth place with 5.4 APG while Serbia's Milos Teodosic ranks seventh with 4.7 APG. Cote d'Ivoire's Mouloukou Diabate and Australia's Patrick Mills share eighth place with 4.4 APG while Greece's Dimitris Diamantidis is in tenth spot with 4.2 APG.  The tournament’s single-game high is 11, which is shared by Rubio and Ponkrashov.
Cote d'Ivoire big man Mamadou Lamizana is the tournament's top shot blocker. The Al-Riyadi centre posted 16 blocked shots and averaged 3.2 per game. Haddadi is a distant second with 2.6 BPG.  Canada's Joel Anthony, Tunisia's Salah Mejri and Gasol are tied in third spot with 2.2 BPG. Lamizana, Haddadi and Mejri share the tournament's single-game record of five blocks.  Asik ranks sixth with 1.6 BPG followed by USA's Rudy g*y and Spain's Fran Vazquez, who are tied with 1.4 BPG. Turkey's Semih Erden, Russians Sergey Monya and Timofey Mozgov and Serbian Kosta Perovic are averaging 1.2 BPG.   
Turkey's Sinan Guler emerged as the tournament's chief thief. The talented guard made a total of 13 steals in four games for a 3.3 average. Guler had a tournament-high eight steals in their game against China. Kazemi is in second place with 2.8 SPG while Lebanon's Ali Mahmoud is in third spot with 2.6 SPG. Diabate and China's Sun Yue are tied in fourth spot with 2.4 SPG.  Barbosa, Delfino, Lithuania's Jonas Maciulis and Prigioni are tied in sixth place with 2.2 SPG. Durant and team-mate Andre Iguodala complete the top ten with 2 SPG.
China's Liu Wei leads the tournament in minutes played with 35.8. Delfino is in second spot with 35.6 MPG followed by Diabate (35.4), Yi (35) and Scola (34.8).
