FICA threatens Bangladesh Cricket Board for non-payment to BPL players- Cricket News Update
The Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) has threatened to take legal action against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board (BCB) over its failure to pay the players, who took part in the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League, held in February this
year. FICA wants BCB to clear all the dues before the first week of next month.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mustafa-Kamal-c78122 on May 19, requesting him to ensure that all franchises pay their respective players, their outstanding amounts before an extended deadline date of June 7.
Earlier, the franchises failed to make the payments within the original cut-off date, which was May 9th for foreign participants, and May 31 for local players.
“The continued broken promises and deadlines is causing great harm to the integrity of the franchises, the Bangladesh Premier League, the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and all of the officials within such organizations," stated May in the letter.
According to the terms of the contracts, the board is responsible to clear all the dues if the franchises default.
"Following the inability of the franchises to meet such deadlines, we demand that the BCB satisfies the guarantees it has agreed to under the player agreements immediately,” added May.
May has expressed disappointment over the BCB’s incapability of meeting the requirements in the given time frame. He further warned the board that it will advise the players to avoid participating in future BPL editions, incase BCB fails to take serious
actions.
The letter quoted that the players were supposed to receive 25% of the fee before the commencement of the league, which most of the players has received. However, the 50% of the payment which was due on Feb 23 and the remaining 25% which was supposed to
be received after 45 days of the players involvement in the event, are yet to be paid up.
The inaugural BPL included some of the best T20 talents across the globe, and turned out to be a fascinating event, which was won by Dhaka Gladiators, who beat Barisal Burners in the finals of competition.
