EA Sports have shared how FIFA 12 will take advantage of the unique features of the PlayStation Vita to deliver the ‘most controllable’ FIFA game to date.
The PlayStation Vita has hit shelves in Japan and managed to sell over 300,000-units in its first two days following release, with retailers asking for a second round of consoles to help fill any gap. Sony will be
hoping for an even better performance for its second generation of handheld portable gaming devices when it releases in Europe and other territories.
A major boost for the consumer electronics giant will be the fact that EA are serious about delivering a solid FIFA title for the Vita. Taking everyone through a demo of the game, running in real-time on the Vita,
a spokesperson for EA claimed that FIFA 12 for the Vita was set to be the most controllable game in the series history.
The first thing he shared was the fact that the Vita version of the game used the same engine which was used for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. This means that gamers can expect the same performance in terms
of gameplay on the handheld console as well.
This opens up a whole list of possibilities for gamers in terms of cross platform compatibility among other things.
The spokesman also revealed that it was the first time that a handheld version of their game would be using the full console version engine, which sounded like a testament to the power and ability of the Vita.
The touchscreen and rear touchpad features have also been made full use of by the looks of things as gamers can now pass the ball by simply touching the area on the screen over a player they wish to pass the ball
to.
It was advertised as giving players the ability to finally pull of passes they saw in the console version but were unable to pull off because of the conventional controller.
EA seem to have added touchscreen options for defence as well, as gamers could now selected a player by simply touching him on the screen. This made picking exactly which player the game wished to take control of
near seamless and precise.
Gamers could also use the Vita’s rear touchpad to have unprecedented levels of accuracy as well. The read touchpad was roughly the same dimensions as the goal and wherever gamers kept their finger during their shot,
the ball would be sent in that direction of the goal.
So, for example, if during a shot the player was to place his finger in the top right corner of the touchpad that is where the shot would go. Brilliant!
