FIFA 12 features revealed on Twitter – Part 1
With a new age, comes new ways of large corporations sharing information with their consumers on a more personal level. While not many companies may do this, Electronic Arts decided to buck the trend and held an interview session on Twitter, where fans of
the series had the opportunity to speak directly to the developers of the upcoming FIFA 12.
To be more specific fans directed their questions towards Simon Humber, the Career Mode producer in FIFA 12.
The session lasted a couple of hours and a number of tidbits were given away.
First thing's first, Mr. Humber explained that there would be no international breaks in this year’s edition of FIFA, as they ‘wanted to nail the club experience’. So no players going away on international duty and coming back fatigued or worse, injured.
Mr. Humber also confirmed that players being loan listed on the transfer market were not the only ones managers had to restrict themselves too, as they could bid and attempt to sign ‘any player on loan’.
The morale system was also touched on, when it was revealed that if players were not played regularly their morale would go down, which is a neat little touch.
Another long overdue feature which is in FIFA 12 is that players who have been loaned out will also grow and their statistics can be kept track of.
Transfer market questions were coming thick and fast at this point, which is no surprise seeing how that is the one major attraction of Career Mode.
Mr. Humber confirmed that there would not be any player swap deals in FIFA 12 but it was something the development team was looking into for the next iteration of the popular football simulation series.
Also gamers who play as Pros but opt not to be the manager will not be dealing in the transfer window, rather the AI manager will be responsible for that. Humber also added that the rest of the squad would be affected by this but the player himself would
not be sold or loaned out.
Players' contracts can be renegotiated if they do not like the terms on offer, though the time period for renegotiating with each player would be different.
Some positive news, which indicates that things have taken a step forward, is the fact that clubs can agree to buy players at the end of a loan spell which ‘You agree the fee up front’.
Also ‘prodigy players’ would already start off rated highly and would develop at a quicker rate, making them a good investment in the game.
There were a host of other features revealed as well as the interview continued and can be found in the next part of the article:
