Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Battlefield 3 and Skyrim could not end FIFA 12’s run at the top of the table for the fifth straight week.
The weekly sales charts are in and it makes more of the same reading as the four weeks before it because no game came close to threatening the seemingly unstoppable, FIFA 12 at the top of the table.
Bethesda’s post apocalyptic first-person shooter, Rage, is still hanging on in the top ten spots in the charts as Rayman Origins settles in for the number nine spot.
The sequel to the alarmingly popular original, Zumba Fitness 2 comes in at number eight after another impressive week of sales while the whacky Saints Row: The Third finishes one spot above it in seventh.
Surprise, surprise as Zumba Fitness, the first game in the series is outselling its latest iteration but quite a fair bit in the charts yet the real rivalry and competition starts with the next two titles.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 manages to go one over its fierce rival, Battlefield 3 as Activision’s title finishes in fourth place ahead of Electronic Arts’ return to their core series. Battlefield had a decent run ahead of its competitor yet it seems that the most the game could do was delay the Modern Warfare sales machine momentarily.
Just Dance 2 was one of the bestselling titles of yesteryear (2011) and it seems that Just Dance 3 is continuing that trend as it settles in to the top three for yet another week.
Bethesda has another entry in the chart as well with their dragon infested, open world role playing game, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which is already a front runner for ‘Game of the Year’.
Yet none of those stellar titles could do anything to come near the blistering sales figures of what has to be the best football game out there at the moment: FIFA 12.
With its new physicality engine, which incidentally DICE borrowed for Battlefield 3, and range of gameplay modes, FIFA 12 is satisfying everyone’s virtual footy needs and it looks like it will continue to do so for some time to come.
