EA Sports’ FIFA series head, David Rutter, explain that they have given FIFA 13 the FIFA 12 treatment and based the new game on two new pillars, which he expects will take the game to a whole new level.
The FIFA series has been the number one choice for football fans looking for an immersive, fluid football simulation title over the past few years and one of the major factors for gamers shifting their preference from Pro Evolution Soccer to FIFA has been the involvement of David Rutter.
Rutter took over the helm as FIFA boss, that is, the development team of the video game, unfortunately Sepp Blatter remains in charge of FIFA itself, and has since transformed the series from being a stiff and restricted title offering limited gameplay into one of the most expansive games yet.
A number of new modes were introduced and the latest instalment, FIFA 12, saw the development team change the core fundamentals of the gameplay, however, according to Rutter, gamers can expect more of the same with FIFA 13.
He said, “It’s (FIFA 13) not an evolution at all. We’ve completely ripped tonnes of the game out again. We’re nuts.”
Before the leap between FIFA 11 to FIFA 12 many gamers complained that the series was stagnating with not enough improvements being made to warrant a new game. However, FIFA 12 changed all of that as Tactical Defending and the Player Impact Engine redefined the series and football simulation titles in general.
Having recently commented on how the development team were their own biggest critics and how at times their publishers would ask them to “take it easy” on themselves as well as the fact that the studio’s rather isolated location in Canada actually helps take outside pressure off the team, Rutter had plenty more to say as he gave his first official interview regarding the latest iteration in the FIFA series.
