Microsoft showed off how FIFA 13 will be better with the Kinect, premiered South Park: The Stick of Truth and boasted how Resident Evil 6 DLC would be available on the 360 before any other console.
Xbox Smart Glass was aimed more as an added home entertainment experience as opposed to a true gaming innovation and it had the audience at the Microsoft E3 Press Conference feeling mixed in their reaction towards the tech; for some it was great to have a new way to experience home entertainment and for others there was not enough ‘gaming’ involved.
However, one thing that Microsoft did do brilliantly well was show off how Madden NFL 13 and FIFA 13 would both be better with Kinect. Voice commands that would enable gamers to make substitutions on the fly, change formations, call audibles and, in the case of FIFA 13 specifically, get a stern talking to from the in-game referee if one was to swear over a decision, which is infinitely cool, were shown off.
However, as impressive as it was, one has to wonder why one would need a high-end motion tracking camera capable of so many cool things for voice commands, which could just as easily have been achieved with a headset.
There was more though as Microsoft revealed that Resident Evil 6 and Tomb Raider DLC would be hitting the Xbox 360 before any other console.
Apart from that announcement there was also news relating to the upcoming South Park: The stick of truth and similar to the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil 6 news it regarded DLC and how the 360 would be the first to get any downloadable content to the title that the game’s developers described in the following statement:
"From the perilous battlefields of the fourth-grade playground, a young hero will rise, destined to be South Park's saviour. From the creators of South Park, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, comes an epic quest to become... cool."
That is pretty much all that Microsoft had to offer during their Press Conference as it seemed that the company were more focused on projects still under-development such as Destiny and the Xbox 720.
