FIFA 2010 World Cup: Villains of French Progress
The truth be told, a truth that is known by French football fans but they haven’t realized it yet, it would be that France really has seen disappointing leaders when it comes to football, a fact that has been observed even today with prime examples of coach Raymond Domenech and captain Patrice Evra.
Another round of accusation, defiance and indignation has lead Les Bleus to further mortification in the eyes of the world but unbelievably they still have a chance to redeem themselves. A draw between Uruguay and Mexico will give some hope of France entering into the next round if they are able to beat South Africa by around 4-5 goals. Not a hard task when you think of their astounding team. There chance of entering into the next stages will become even brighter if either La Celeste or El Tri win their match with a humongous margin.
Their most recent outrage relating to the Chelsea man Nikolas Anelka has sparked controversies all around the globe but it has done one thing that wasn’t present in France since last times World Cup. It has united the French team and despite the differences it is hopeful that the team will be presenting ‘something new’. Ironically Anelka might be the man sent back home however he is not the villain of the saga. Those credits would go to the following:
Coach Raymond Domenech
If the French Football now states that all the jeopardy engulfing France was mostly due to unforeseeable circumstances that would be a big hoax. Though they prepared the tournament on all means from following astrological predictions to completing all holy services, it was generally commented by the major population of fans and experts that this French team doesn’t promise much. There was special criticism against Domenech and the inclusion and exclusion of key players from the team. The Domenech Anelka issue along with Domenech Ever issue helped him no better with his reviews. Though he tried to deal with problems with privately he had no success, partly because French Football Federation really is covering his back.
Patrice Evra
If the French skipper Evra was told that his efforts to hit the fitness coach Robert Duverne would be as low his week could sink he would have gladly taken that and left for the bargain but that wasn’t the case. Words had already escaped his mouth that the mutinous person in the camp should been taught a lesson. If that wasn’t enough he then contradicted himself and fought with the coach. The current turn of events has certainly ensured one thing; that matter under the future coach Laurent Blanc will be very different.
Franck Ribery
He himself has stated far too often that the star winger of the Les Bleus would love to lead the squad along with playing in the legendary left wing but so far his campaign has failed him badly at it. He was supposed to come out as the saviour of France after the s*x scandal with a minor aged call girl but instead the he flunked at all ground. He himself has been extremely disappointed with his performance saying, "This has been my childhood dream but we didn't work as hard as we should have done, and I’m suffering for that," he then optimistically added, "But we are going to do everything we can to win the next game".
William Gallas
The sturdy defender is extremely disappointed with himself, the management, the board the players, the fans and nearly everything around him. Apart from giving out controversial statements about his team he has been releasing his frustration against media reporters. Well that more specifically he has been using obscene gestures using his hand. The Arsenal defender was also in the line of captaincy but he became as dejected as Thierry Henry in the end.
