FIFA 2010 World Cup: World Cup Trophy made of cocaine caught before being smuggled
The latest hit from the World Cup is not from South Africa. In fact the latest World Cup committed crime came from Colombia but the Colombian National Police was more than up to the task and stopped the act just in time.
It so happens that the Colombian National Police has taken hold of a replica of the World Cup Trophy, only that this is not the Replica that was stolen from the head quarters of FIFA in Johannesburg South Africa.
Early reports have concluded that this replica was made in an undisclosed place in Mexico and here is the shocker’ the Replica has actually been made out of cocaine.
The nearly 37 centimetre stump has been made of cocaine as a whole and was caught by the Colombian Police while it was being smuggled out of country. The interception of cocaine has been widely hailed as an act of heroism in Colombia, a country which has recently seen massive disrespect for their Police along with corruption that has left the basic infrastructure of the country shaken.
The 14 inch look alike of the original FIFA World Cup trophy has been entirely made of cocaine. It was caught at the Bogota Airport at Colombia while sources have revealed that the cocaine was heading for Madrid.
It is told that the World Cup Trophy was carved with great skill to resemble the original one and not only that but after the careful carving a coat of expensive gold paint was applied to it. There were even similar engravings along with stripes of green paint at the bottom of the statue.
Sources have relayed the situation onwards saying that the Replica of the World Cup Trophy was packed in a box along with jerseys of different teams. The official Police report has stated that the seizing of the trophy happened in a depot at the airport. The Trophy was inside a box of an unknown place in Madrid.
When the Police was asked of how they got to know about the Trophy’s nature they told that the trophy was in a poor condition. It definitely looked old but what gave the big hint is that some of the paint was chipped off.
What is interesting to know is that the Trophy has the same value, being casted in solid 16 carat gold. The only difference in that respect was the weight as the replica was about 10 pounds lighter.
This happens to be probably one of the most popular criminal acts yet performed. Another act in the league that caught a lot of attention was the theft of World Cup replicas and souvenir. What was interesting about the robbery was that just moments ago the FIFA President Sepp Blatter had stated how secure the headquarters were and soon after that the thievery took place right under his nose.
The South African police commissioner Gen. Bheki Cele has been an extremely busy man since the start of the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa. He commented on the issue saying, “We know there was a burglary at the FIFA offices. Seven replicas of the World Cup were stolen and several sweaters. Police are looking into it”.
Other incidents included like the situation where a German supporter assaulted a policemen and injured him severely on the head. The policeman had to be taken to nearby hospital for medical treatment. Later the Policeman told that the assailant was a very disgruntled German man who also was very drunk.
The police man told, “As he turned to the 20-year-old, the man suddenly began hitting and kicking the officer. Furthermore he began pounding the officer’s head with a vuvuzela”.
Before that there was another incident in which a nearly 60 year old man was beaten to death by his family that included his son, daughter and wife. The reason for the assault was that the man wanted to see a World Cup match while his family wanted to watch a documentary on divinity.
Police are looking into the death and have arrested the perpetrators of the incident.
