What do Battlefield 3, FIFA 12 and FIFA Street have in common? They are record breaking series for Electronic Arts.
EA or Electronic Arts is the largest single publisher in the Video Game industry. The studio churns out new titles and sequels by the dozens and has series such as Battlefield, FIFA, SSX, Need for Speed, Dead Space, Burnout and well, to be frank, the list
goes on and on.
Last year saw a great year for the publisher as Dead Space was praised for being a fine sequel to a brilliant original. At the same time both FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3 broke the records of their respective series.
FIFA 12 became the fastest selling FIFA title in history and Battlefield 3 did the same and a bit extra by becoming EA’s fastest selling series of all time!
That trend seems to have carried on into the other series that EA has under its belt as Mass Effect 3 also broke the record set by Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 in terms of launch week sales.
SSX also had a strong start to its return to the gaming world but best of all of EA’s 2012 line-up will have to be the news that the experimental reboot of the FIFA Street series has set a record of its own.
The game is now the fastest selling title in the FIFA Street series as EA continues its record breaking roll.
FIFA Street has received scores ranging from 7 out of 10 to 9 out of 10, with a majority of critics and review sites settling for an 8. However, everyone agrees that the latest game is the perfect return to a series that many had forgotten and is great for
gamers who want a football game that does not have the complexity of the core FIFA series.
At the same time though, those very critics also state that the game is easy to pick up but requires a fair bit of skill to master.
EA seems to have hit a very rich vein of form in terms of reboots and releases and for every gamer’s sake one can only hope that it continues.
