FIFA World Club Championship – TP Mazembe vs. Internacional – Full Time Report (Part 3)
With the second half starting, Internacional were keen on moving forward as they managed to keep the ball for the first 3 minutes and did not play a single wrong pass. The move ended in a very good goal attempt, which was well
saved by Muteba Kidiaba – later announced as man of the match.
It was during the 52nd minute when the Brazilian side were pressing a lot on the African defensive walls; however, Mazembe’s outstanding counter attacking tactics were working fine for them. With Andres D’Alessandro
making a run forward from the right flank, it was Dioko Kaluyituka who was there to intercept him to help his side counter attack. The dynamic midfielder made a quick run forward and delivered the ball on to Milota Kabangu at the right time. The African man
shifted into the box onto his right leg and opening his body out he found the back of the net as he shot a brilliant volley. A well-deserved goal was taken by the African team. After being dominated by the Brazilians for fifteen minutes straight, he simply
turned the game around for the African side as he scored the first goal to change the whole scenario.
With the first goal coming from the African side, they started dominating and kept most of the possession of the ball. The Brazilians now had no answer for the first goal as Mazembe were very ready to seal the deal for their side.
Right when the referee’s watch struck the hour mark, the Africans had another one-on-one opportunity that was wasted by Ngandu Kasongo. The African striker got the ball at his feet as he ran past the Brazilian wall perfectly and Given Singuluma provided him
with a perfect through ball. However, Renan was prepared for it and by charging towards the ball, he saved the day for his side as he kept the game alive.
The Brazilians decided to make another change during the 75th minute and before the change was made it was quite obvious that Alecsandro would come off. The Internacional striker was not having the best day out on the
pitch. He was simply outnumbered up front as the Africans did their homework perfectly and knew exactly how to track back in order to save their one goal lead. Leandro Damiao was the one who made way onto the pitch. The 21 year old was brought on only because
of his burst of pace, but that was the last thing that Brazilians needed at the moment. All that they required was a clinical finisher inside the 18-yard box and the substitution made was simply a waste as Leandro Damiao lost the ball more than anyone on the
pitch did for the last 25 minutes of the game.
