FIFA World Cup 2010: Best Young Players At The Tournament
Alex Sanchez, the Chilean wonder kid, was one of the shining stars at the tournament. He lit the tournament with his tantalizing runs and skills and offered some of the best wing support the tournament has seen. The twenty one year old currently plays for Udinese, but it won’t be surprising to see Europe’s elite come around looking for the winger's signature. He is already being claimed to be the successor to Messi and Ronaldo’s throne, but we will just have to wait and see what the future has in store for the fiery Chilean.
Elijero Elia, even though only twenty three years old, has become a key figure on the Dutch team. He is officially the Dutch super sub. Every time he played in the tournament he created magic, he manages to get past one or two players with ease and almost no effort what so ever. When Robben was missing due to an injury Elia stepped up to the plate and it was as though there was no missing piece to the Dutch game set.
Geovani Dos Santos, who is being referred to as the Mexican sensation has had a tremendous World Cup so far. He has been one of the pivotal figures on the Mexican side during their highly impressive World Cup. He possess superb pace, skill and tremendous technique. He is naturally left footed but he is just as comfortable with using his right foot. He missed out on most of the club season due to an injury, but the Tottenham boss, Harry Redknapp is sure to have taken a close look at the players potential and will be looking to incorporate the player into his starting lineup this coming season.
Anthony Annan, was one of the few Africans who had a superb World Cup. He combines midfield magic while scoring with ease. He has impressed the top European clubs throughout the course of the World Cup. The Ghanaian combines immense skill with a great physical presence. He is being compared to Michael Essien and chances are he may end up living up to that reputation.
Thomas Muller has been hands down the best young player at the tournament. The Bayern Munich player has been a tremendous player on the German squad. He has managed to win the race and is taking home the Golden Boot. The midfielder can play in a number of positions, which include, attacking midfielder, second striker or even as a winger on either side. He has great pace, technique and composure, but his greatest asset is his consistency. He tends to create as many goals as he scores. He already possess the talent and skills to become a legend.
What happens to these players over the next couple of years will be interesting to watch. If they are acquired by the European elite then it is safe to say that we have legends in the making, in every one of these players.
