FIFA World Cup 2010: Capello in trouble, two weeks to determine his future with the English
The England’s Head Coach will soon find out if he can cling on to his six million pounds a year job after having just played such a disheartening and distasteful campaign. The current situation is unfolding in such a manner that speculation is rife about Fabio Capello’s probable resignation, though sources have revealed that the fate of the unfortunate manager will be decided in about two weeks.
Capello had talks with the Club England’s chairman Sir David Richards on Monday after the disastrous outcome of the last match with Germany. The Football Association has mixed reviews about his stay as the manager of England, although the English football officials are adamant about his removal from the post.
Capello has made it clear that he wants to continue his career as the coach of the England team even after this tarnish on his managerial record. The fact is that being the manager of the England team also allows you many Fringe benefits, for instance being the head of the Football Association.
However after the demoralising crusher against Germany which also happened to be the heaviest defeat that the English team has ever got against the Germans in a World Cup, there is no exigent call for Capello.
The Premier League chairman and the Football Association vice chairman Richards told that he was cautious of the situation and will be aware to take stock of the situation before he contacts Capelllo again.
Capello did nothing wrong when he saw the English team coming into the finals and having nine wins out of ten matches and this includes the double over with Croatia, Capello himself in general was happy previously.
His contract is of such that he needs to renegotiate after the World Cup finals and then take charge of the English team for the 2012 European Championships.
Capello also confirmed these speculations by saying that he wanted to remain the coach of England’s team and had talked to Dave Richards who will let him know after two weeks. He said that he had turned down a lot of offers from important clubs because he likes this job and wants to continue being England’s Manager.
England is disappointed and frustrated going out of the World Cup like that so it is natural that they will return back home and reflect on themselves.
Fabio Capello defended himself when asked about his salary and his unsatisfactory performance in the World Cup. He said that he speaks directly to the people who give him the money when he is picked as manager and it is not the value of money but value of the man.
Bevington has asked the overall complete record of Capello after replacing Steve McClaren since 2007. It is not Capello who sets his own salary and he has defiantly set an outstanding record qualifying the team for the World Cup. He expressed that it wasn’t just the English fans that were disheartened by the performance; he told that all of them including him are very disappointed in leaving the World Cup so early in the competition.
England hired Capello as the Coach when they were on the floor even having failed to qualify for the European Championships in 2008.
Capello did restore some confidence in the team by winning such successive matches in the qualifications but no one can deny England’s under achievement in South Africa.
England cruised through their groups but had to settle with being runner ups to the Americans.
England was very clearly second best against Germany even after the controversy of Frank Lampard which was not spotted by the officials and he played on this was the shot crossing the goal line.
Yet it has been reported that after the game several of England’s players indicated that they did not want Capello to remain as coach. They reported that not only were there problems in communicating him on a managerial level but there were a lot of differences in his approach of work. Though the English team entered the tournament in troubled times as usual; injuries and scandals following them around, experts believe that their poor strategy and tactics of game play were the reasons that lead them to perform their swansong.
