Celebrities just like the rest of us enjoy sports now and then. Most people love to support their countries when they are playing in some major tournament and the same goes for celebrities. They have been spotted at various major sporting events all over the world and even actively support various teams.

At the recent disappointing World Cup match between England and Algeria which ended in a boring 0-0 draw, the princes of England, William and Harry were spotted sitting in the crowd. They got behind their team and were there to support England to try and get a much needed victory in the process. It didn't happen but it was good to see the second and third in line for the throne enjoying a game of football. They were in Africa on an official trip to visit various charities and see some of the children of the area.

Another celebrity who was spotted at a recent game was not as dignified as the two English princes. Lady Gaga, the chart topping controversial pop star, was in attendance at a baseball game between the San Diego Padres and the New York Mets. She came to the event dressed in an outfit that consisted of leather underwear and nothing else. Lady Gaga has a way of directing all of the attention away from the game at hand and making all the cameras focus on her. That is not the best way to watch a baseball game it has to be said and not really the point of watching it at the stadium either. If she wanted to be lazy and watch the game in her underwear she could have stayed at home and relaxed in front of the TV.

An interesting thing comes to light when we delve deeper into what sports and teams celebrities support. Some shocking revelations are revealed as well. It has been found out that some of the biggest celebrities on the planet support some of the most random teams in the world. Dr. Dre the famous rap mogul is a big supporter of Liverpool while the actor Tom Hanks follows the Arsenal football team. Other actors who support football teams are Will Smith who is a big fan of Lazio in Italy and Will Ferrell who lends his support to Chelsea. The pop sensation Justin Timberlake is a fan of Man U and Cameron Diaz is a supporter of Brentford.

The two strangest supporters of football teams are also two polar opposites. US President Barack Obama is a big supporter of West Ham United while his arch rival Osama Bin Laden is said to support Arsenal. What are the odds of that happening and how strange is it that these two individuals love football teams in the English Premier League but are enemies at war with each other.

Sometimes celebrities can be given preferential treatment when it comes to sporting events. A few incidents have come to light when big corporations have given celebrities free tickets to attend matches. It was revealed that the BBC gave away many free tickets to celebrities to attend sporting events. Stars like Lily Allen, Daniel Radcliffe and Michael McIntyre were given tickets to attend sporting events at their leisure. 275 tickets to events were given away by the BBC. It is a bit strange when celebrities, who can clearly afford to buy their own tickets, are given free tickets by a large company like the BBC. One has to question the company's motives when handing out these freebies.

When it comes to celebrities, it seems they like sports just as much as the next person. By being at the sporting events themselves they can sometimes be a source of inspiration for the team they support and sometimes they can be an unnecessary distraction. You can be sure that the next time some big sporting event is being shown on TV, you will spot one or two celebrities in the crowd. Let's hope they paid for their own tickets to be there.
