FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa: Brazil vs. Netherlands - Players to Watch Out For
Arguably the most entertaining quarter final match will be the one played between Brazil and Netherlands. Even though Brazil are favorites to win the match, anything can happen in a game of football. There are a few impact players on both these sides that are capable to change the game at any point in time for their team.
Robin Van Persie is the most experienced forward on the Dutch squad. His preferred foot is his left but he is equally capable of rattling the goal with his right. He possesses strength, speed, technique and a nose for the goal that can only be rivaled by a few. Other then scoring he also contributes to his team with his superior passing and vision. He has a lot of pressure on his shoulders however from his country and he has the capability to help pull off a major upset against Brazil.
Arjen Robben could be the most important key in the Dutch victory. With his pace and dazzling skill, when Robben is in the mood, he can rip apart the best defenses in the world. Robben can take defenders on and leave them for dead, when he pleases to do so, he is excellent. His ability to take the ball to the line and whip in effective crosses, gives his team an opportunity to score great goals. He strongly believes in team play and constantly gets his team involved. He occasionally cuts in from the left and unleashes a thunder bolt that usually ends up in the back of the net. Robben needs to continue to perform at this level if the Dutch want to come away with a victory.
Wesley Sneijder will be the key architect behind each of the attacks that Netherlands plan on launching against the Brazilians. The twenty six year old has played superbly so far with dissecting passes and even two very valuable goals. He needs to retain possession like he has done so far, because the lesser the Brazilians see of the ball, the less likely they are going to do something with it.
Moving on to the Brazilians, the first name that comes to every one’s mind is, Kaka. Kaka proudly wears the number ten jersey for his national side, which means that he is the total package for the team. He is the play maker, the scorer and the leader of just about every attack the Brazilians make. He possess so many individual qualities that he seems to be cheating at times. He can overwhelm any defense at his disposal. Kaka needs to take matters into his own hands and create those openings that the Brazilians need him to create. But he may need to keep his temper in check since he has already received three yellow cards at the tournament so far.
Luis Fabiano, who is the only all out striker in the Brazilian team, needs to have one more of his goal scoring fests against the Dutch. The Brazilian posses a unique eye for scoring goals and the ability to score from almost any angle. If he continues to combine with kaka as he has been doing so far, it won’t be surprising to see him score a couple against the relatively weaker Dutch defense.
Lucio is going to have to be a wall at the back for Brazil, if they hope to stop the constant attacking threat the Dutch possess. So far all of his performances going into this match have been phenomenal and the coach will be hoping that his captain puts in another brilliant display of world class defending against Netherlands which could lead to the eventual defeat of the flying Dutchmen.
