FIFA World Cup: The Best Of The Best
The World Cup comes once every four years and this time it was a European team that managed to win. This years spectacle was very entertaining, and now that the World Cup has come to a close, let's have a look at the best of the best from the tournament.
The best goal keeper was easily Iker Casillas. He performed outstandingly when he denied Robben two one on one chances in the final game, which kept Spain in the running to lift the trophy. He was exceptional to say the least, he was strong in the air, intimidating and fearless.
The best defender at the tournament was German captain, Phillip Lahm. Lahm was made captain due to Ballack being unable to participate in the tournament. Lahm repaid the Coaches by justifying his decision and giving some of the most consistent performances at the tournament. He added experience to the young German side, he contributed from the flank in both defense and attack equally. He proved in South Africa that he is easily one of the best side backs to ever play the game.
The best midfielder award would have to be shared between, Xavi and Schweinsteiger. Both players had been instrumental in their teams performances, dictating play brilliantly and controlling the pace of the game at their will. Schweinsteiger was better than Xavi at tackling, whereas Xavi was better then Schweinsteiger at threading the needle with his passes.
The best forward of the tournament, is none other than the golden ball winner, Diego Forlan. Forlan played with passion throughout the tournament, that was unrivaled by any other. He was labeled a failure at Manchester United, but he has managed to bounce back from then and is now one of the most prolific strikers in the world of Football.
The best 'player to manage to get away without being booked' was, Mark Van Bommel. Van Bommel is a good defensive midfielder who puts in a decent tackle or two. But it is also safe to say that van Bommel is slightly, psychotic. He tends to go in with hopes of killing a player and perhaps winning the ball off them right after the murder. How he managed to survive every game without being sent off is something that can’t really be explained and is an amazing feat on its own.
The best 'diver' at the tournament was, Luis Suarez. He isn’t necessarily the best diver but he tends to do it way more often than most people. He was already on the most hate people list, but by using his hands to swipe away a goal bound shot by a Ghanaian player saw him earn the reputation of being 'the most hated player' in South Africa.
The best 'psychic animal' without a doubt was Paul. Paul managed to predict every single one of Germany’s games accurately and even the final match was predicted with a hundred percent accuracy by Paul. So it’s safe to say that if Paul says someone’s going to win, chances are they are and betting against what Paul says might just be the worst decisions a person could ever make.
