FIFA World Cup 2010 Final: Why Netherlands will win the World Cup
After an outstanding run at the World Cup, Netherlands find themselves just one win away from taking home the trophy. The team that will try and stop the Dutch from going home with the trophy is none other than Spain. Netherlands has some amazing talent amongst it ranks and are favorites going in to the final. There are a few reasons for them being the favorites how ever.
So far one of the best players at the tournament has been, Wesley Sneijder. Along with his midfield dominance he has also scored some crucial goals for the team. If Sneijder maintains the form he has displayed throughout the tournament so far it would be almost impossible for the Spanish to contain him.
The Dutch midfield consists of, Robben, Sneijder, Kuyt and Van Bommel, this is one of the strongest midfield combinations present in the modern game of football. These are players who possess tremendous ability and can easily destroy any opposition they play against and with Rafael Van der Vaart waiting on the bench their strength only gets better. Spain will have a very hard time trying to contain the Dutch midfield when they face off against each other.
Contrary to popular belief, the Dutch have actually had a tremendous defense this time around. Mathijsen, Heitinga, Van Bronckhorst and Boulahrouz have all been consistently brilliant at the back and have given rest to the age old rumor of the Dutch always having a strong offense but a weak defense.
Every time the Dutch participate in a major tournament, there is some sort of problem and this results in differences being created amongst the players. This time around the Dutch have stuck together no matter what. When the Robin Van Persie incident occurred a couple of days ago, most people believed this was the beginning of the end for the Dutch, but they seem to have overcome the situation as a team. When a team is as united as the Dutch squad it is impossible to not win.
The Dutch have set a record with the five straight one nil wins that they have had this year. This just proves that the Dutch are capable of holding a lead and the fact that the Spanish defense is quite shaky as compared to how it used to be, it can only mean that the Dutch are more than capable of winning in any situation.
Through out the course of Dutch football history there has always been some disappoint or the other. This time around however the Dutch have been anything but disappointing and it looks like there is nothing that could stop them from claiming the trophy and going home as champions.
On Sunday, July the eleventh we will get to witness one of the most epic finals ever to take place. Whether Netherlands win or not will be decided on that day, but it is safe to say that out of the two teams, the Dutch are more deserving and more likely to go home as champions.
