FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil – Squad of France
We all saw how the French were disappointed at the end of the FIFA World Cup 2010. They faced a humiliating defeat against the Mexicans and the host nation South Africa. The French side was facing too many problems throughout the world cup and were not playing at their best. They drew the match against Uruguay and lost the other two matches in the group stages and went home after a disappointing performance.
The current coach for the French side, might not be a part of the French squad after 4 years therefore, the French might have to look through into their formation, when they will qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2014.
The goalkeeper of the French team, Lloris, would be 27 years old and would be a part of the French squad, as the team would go to Brazil in 2014. He is going to be the number 1 for the French side and he has impressed many at this point of time. Hugo Lloris has positioned himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, while Mandanda would still be young after 4 years, but might be a part of the bench along with Carrasso.
Talking about defenders, many of the current fullbacks would definitely be retired by the year 2014. The current defenders, Eric Abidal, Patrice Evra and even William Gallace, are not going to be part of the French team in the FIFA World Cup 2014, therefore, there are going to be many changes in the squad. The Arsenal right-back, Sagna would be 31 at that point of time and would stick to his position as he would not retire that soon. The two centre backs would definitely be Rami and Mexes; even though Mexes would be 32 years old, but he is an amazing talent and he must be present in order to win. The left-back for the squad would be Tremoulinas, who was not given a chance to shine this year but he would be experienced enough to be a part of the squad.
In the midfield, if the French decide to play 5 midfielders along with 2 wingers then; Sissoko and Toulalan are going to be the best defensive midfielders. There is no better choice for the French side to play as defensive midfield. Upfront, in the centre midfield would be the very dangerous centre midfielder Gourcuff, who is recently being linked to Arsenal because many say that he is the perfect replacement for “Cesc Fabregas.” The two wingers would definitely be Samir Nasri of Arsenal and Frank Ribery of Bayern Munich.
Henry, upfront, would be gone by the time the next world cup will start therefore; Karim Benzema would have to prove himself as a good finisher. The Real Madrid star did not manage to impress his country’s coach this year round but after 4 years, he is definitely going to be a legend. Other players that might attract the selection committee could be Clichy, who is playing pretty well at this point of time. Moreover, the Real Madrid man Lasana Diarra, who is currently on the bench for Madrid. Gignac would also be a good option at that point of time. The amazing Sakho would be 24 in 2014 and of perfect age to play in a FIFA World Cup. France is not going to be a big threat in the coming years, until someone from them shines as good as Zidanne in the FIFA World Cup 2006. Ribery and Nasri along with Gourcuff are compared with the French Legend but none of them even come close as yet.
So, the starting line-up of the English squad would probably be:
Lloris, Sagna, Rami, Mexes, Tremoulinas, Sissoko, Toulalan, Nasri, Gourcuff, Ribery, Benzema.
Substitutes: Mandanda, Clichy, Sakho, L.Diarra, Kakutta, Remy, Gignac.
