FIFA World Cup: Gazing Into The Future - Brazil 2014

A lot can happen over the course of the next four years. Some players will retires, some will get injures and some might not even get the call up for the national squad. Some teams would even fail to qualify for the World Cup altogether. But it’s still interesting to look ahead and see what the tournament would be like.

The twentieth edition of the FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil and even though the Brazilian squad didn’t do as good as they were expected to do, they would still be the team to beat. The squad will without a doubt face many changes, most importantly there would be a new coach following the sacking of the current Brazilian manager, Dunga.

With Brazil having such a deep pond of talent to choose from, it is safe to say that they would field one of the strongest twenty three men squads possible. Alexandre Pato who plays for AC Milan and was currently left out of this edition of the World Cup is a sure shot to feature in the World Cup in 2014 and be the main man offensively on the team.

Germany would this time around be the tournament favorites had Brazil not been the hosts. The Germans are more than likely to return with most of the same squad that participated in the 2010 World Cup. Ozil, Schweinsteiger, Khedira and Mueller are all looking more than likely to be participating unless something goes terribly wrong.

Spain, the current rulers of the World cup 2010 title, would be strong as ever, with Fabregas and Silva in the midfield and Ramos, Pique and Casillas at the back.

Argentina will still possess the same offensive threat that they had this time around with the likes of, Messi, Aguero and Di Maria still in the ranks. But whether more players develop and fill up the other empty spaces in the Argentinean squad remains to be seen.

Netherlands fans can be thankful that, Robben and Sneijder will be back but the squad is more than likely to be revamped and host a series of new faces.

Italy and France would most probably have managed to get there squads to be more stable and are set to perform much better in Brazil. Balotelli could be the shining light to the Italians hunt for the World Cup in 2014. France will have to wait and see what new coach Laurent Blanc has in store for them, Gourcuff, Benzema and Nasri are all set to return next time around.

England who have had one of the most disappointing tournaments, still don’t appear to have a very strong youth system and not many future stars seem to be making their name there. Jack Wilshere of Arsenal is the only possible player to be looked into for the next edition of the World Cup. Wayne Rooney will return and so will Lennon, Walcott could have finally managed to have gotten better by then and could maybe make the cut. Steven Gerrard who would be thirty four by then would be a major doubt for the tournament.

But we still have a good four years to see how the future of football turns out to be and by any means it’s going to be anything but boring.
