FIFA rule denies http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Curtis-Davies-c9660’ move to Celtic
According to a rule by FIFA, it is now not possible for Celtic to sign Aston Villa central defender Curtis Davies. Davies was prepared to leave for the Glasgow outfit over the weekend; however, the FIFA rule prevented him from
doing so. The FIFA article 5:3 states that ‘a player cannot make a cross border transfer and play for a third club in a single season.’
Davies started off the season with Aston Villa, making a few appearances for the Villains. He then left for Leicester City on a loan move, making a total of 12 appearances. Davies did not seem to settle in well at Leicester City
and revealed that he wanted a move abroad. The deal with Celtic was well into its final stages when it was discovered that the player could not play for Celtic this season.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has an injury crisis, with two of his best defenders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glenn-Loovens-c15054, out with injury. Lennon was hoping to strengthen the squad during the winter transfer window; he said while
speaking to reporters, “We’ve been looking to strengthen in that area with Hooiveld leaving and Loovens out. I’d imagine Daniel will struggle for Wednesday so we’ll be looking to bring a player in. We’ll have to speed things up now.”
West Ham to complete loan deal for Demba Ba
Reports reveal West Ham United are set to snap up TSG Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba in the January transfer window in order to strengthen their squad. The striker has scored six goals and set up two so far this season and has an
efficiency ratio of a goal or assist every 159 minutes this season. If he arrives at West Ham, he will relieve some pressure off of Hammers striker Carlton Cole.
Ernst Tanner, Hoffenheim’s General Manager, revealed that West Ham were leading the race for the striker, having beaten the likes of Stoke City, Everton, West Brom and Sunderland. However, he said a deal was yet to be agreed upon.
While speaking to reporters, he said, “Nothing has been signed, but everything points to the fact that he will go on loan at West Ham.”
Despite Ba failing a medical at Stoke City, the side remained determined as ever to sign the 25-year-old striker. He is contracted to Hoffenheim until the end of the 2013 season and has been valued at an estimated €5-7 million,
a price which West Ham are willing to pay. A source close to the club revealed, “The Demba Ba transfer is virtually signed. Terms have now been agreed with the club and the player.”
