FIVB releases the Final Round schedule of 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix – Volleyball News
Following the successful completion of the preliminary round-robin, the women’s premier international volleyball tournament the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix is set to enter the final phase on Wednesday.
In the recent memory, the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) released the complete schedule of the Final Round of the competition. Chinese city Ningbo will set up the field of play for the crucial round, while six teams including the hosts China
will come into stride.
The Final Round of the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix will cover its length from June 27 to July 1 and each day will feature three matches.
Two-time champions of the FIVB World Grand Prix, the USA, will open the final round by taking on the runners up from the last two editions Brazil at 1300 (local time). The clash of two big giants of the volleyball world is surely going to be huge. The two
teams already had a meeting in the second week of the Preliminary Round, where the Americans proved their supremacy on the net and defeated Brazil in a four-set affair. Hence, the US team will have a competitive edge against Brazil in the opening match of
Final Round.
US team is all set to go for a Grand Prix title for third straight year and a good start in the Final Round will define a route for the team to achieve its goal.
Thailand and Turkey will clash in the second match, whereas the third match on day-1 will be played between hosts China and Caribbean ladies from Cuba. The home team is enjoying a great form and it will also be equipped with stupendous support of local fans.
China was already confirmed for the Final Round of the tournament, but still the team staged an incredible show of volleyball in the opening round and secured second spot in the overall standing. Cuba will have a tough time to tackle the ambitious Chinese.
For the next four days, teams will play their matches without any break. At the end of Final Round, the points will be calculated and top team of the competition will catch the limelight.
