FLAN DILEMA!!! please help!?

ok so i made a flan yesterday and there wasnt enough caramel on it so today i just made some more caramel (melted sugar until it was an amber colored) amd poured it over the chilled flan hoping that i could serve it tomorrow

well when i poured the hot carmel over the cold flan it made all this sizzling noise and the caramel hardend just a bit

will it be edible tomorrow?

  1. The caramel actually melted into the flan most likely and most likely you ruined the insides of the flan. You can still serve it. I don't see why not. This did not alter the taste.


  2. well i was told that you cool the caramel with the flan mixture on the fridge.

  3. You should have brought the flan to room temp first.

    I don't know whether it will work. Just be careful.

  4. it will be edible, just tell everyone you made your own version, called crunchy flan, who knows, this could be a big hit, some people like crunchy, good luck.

  5. Call it Flan Brulee - a cross between Flan and Creme Brulee

  6. It should be fine, it soften by tommorrow, which is what you want, as you don't want it crunchy. Serve it and enjoy.
