  1. What I noticed with me when I was depressed and wanted to be happy are to think positive thoughts instead of negative ones. When you feed yourself positive thought and activities, they cause you to feel good about yourself. Do something fun! If you don't know what to do for fun, be creative. What do you enjoy doing most? Find that and go do that (as long as it's not going to drag you down in the end. For example drinking an alcoholic beverage).  Does listening to happy music, help? Dancing? Singing? Learning something new that you always wanted to learn? Playing an instrument? Find anything that will help improve your mood. I notice taking a nice bubble bath with soothing music helps me.

  2. If you want to get better...make sure your seeing a GREAT therapist that you actually like! Ones you like can be hard to find...but once you find one it is SO worth it. Also talk to your doc to make sure you're on the right meds.

  3. well depression is a chemical imbalance so you cannot help feeling depressed.  You should start taking anti-depressants to make your serotonin levels higher which will make you feel so much better, also try eating a healthier diet and doing a half an hour of exercise each day that is equivalent to taking a small dose of an anti-depressant.  You will get better don't worry, :]

  4. It's good that you are READY to be happy. Thats what is the most important thing in curing depression.

  5. I'm not sure what you can do by tonight but maybe in the next few days.

Have you gone to a therapist yet ?  If not that would be the first step and see if you might benefit from some medication.

Cognitive Therapy helps me a lot. That's something you can read about on the web and see if it sounds like it would help you.

And, you COULD do that tonight :-)

    Good luck !

  6. I agree that seeing a counselor is a good first step if you're really depressed.  They can try to figure out why you're unhappy, it's so hard to do that yourself sometimes.  If that's not an option for you,  my advice is to try to write about how you're feeling and thinking.  You don't have to write well or fast or slow or any way, just write.  I think for most people, writing is way more helpful than they'd imagine.  Try it out.

  7.   Go out with friends, talk to people. Set your life duties in the best form that fits you.

  8. You can line up an appointment with a therapist today, but as for something to make it better TONIGHT...

Tackle a project. Something you have been wanting to do for awhile, but haven't had the ambition to start due to the depression.

Drink some coffee and clean out that closet! You'll go to bed tired and satisfied that you got something done.
