  1. The same thing happens to me but when you have the acid don't sit down and when you run keep your mouth closed and part of running is just to keep pushing yourself, oh yeah and too much running is not good for your heart.

  2. That’s great that you have started running but it sounds more like you are sprinting then running.  Like anything you have to prepare your body to run progressively longer runs and this takes time.  Cool Running has a couch potato to 5K program that will give you your 3 miles in about 8 weeks.  It uses a combination of walking and running to get you there.

You don’t need to run everyday, aim for 4 – 5 days a week.  The activity should be 20 – 30 minutes duration so I would think about doing a walk/running program.  Also you running should be controlled and comfortable, if you can’t hold a conversation while you run you are going to fast.  If you are sucking wind you are going to fast.

It should like you have a bit of a base going for you, so I might suggest starting out with 5 minutes of running to 1 minute of walking over 30  minutes.  During the 1 minute walk you can take in some water, the idea of walking helps flush some of the by products of running out of your cells allowing you to go futher.

Then the next week bump up your run to 6 minutes and 1 minute  of walking,  keeping doing this until you can do 30 minutes or 3 sets of 10 running and 1 min walking.  Then you should be  good to go at least up to 5K with no problem.

  3. Well, you don't want to increase too fast, because you'll risk injury.

You could run 3 miles today--

1)run slower (When you aren't used to it, it's really hard to pace yourself. So that's why you feel bad after 1.5--going too fast. )

    2) Walk when you need to (Just for a minute. There's nothing wrong with walking. And even that little minute can make you feel much better).

    Just do it. ;)

  4. i get that acid thing too !!! it hurts like h*ll if u continue running with it. It's gas (not f**t) that develops in your stomach when u drink water too much or too quickly before running, that makes air get sucked in to ur stomach. Drink lots of water slowly about 1 hr. to 30 mins before u run. That way u dont get burning or dried  up!!

    Good luck :) O_>

  5. keep on pushing yoursself but each day trty to get a little farther than one and a half mile and you'll make it to three miles in no time.

  6. i think run a little more each day it should take 2-3 weeks

  7. It almost sounds like you are over hydrated when you start running, try drinking less in the hours before you run, then drinking only 1 cup for every 20 min you do run.

Run 1 and a quarter miles for a few days, then add a quarter mile more at a time.  It depends on how strong your will is, your body already can handle the 3 miles.

  8. Are you eating enough? The acid build up could be associated with your stomach not having enough food to digest. I suggest bringing along a snack when you run, to give your stomach something to digest. And oh yeah, drink plenty of water! (I'm not a doctor and this is just a theory)

  9. The acid feeling is your body producing lactic acid.  It can also sometimes reach your throat for a very uncomfortable feeling.  Lactic acid is produced in your body when you are exercising too hard.

Either you are sprinting the mile and need to pace yourself, or you are just not the shape necessary for longer distances (yet).  It will come with time, trust me.  Spend some time running 1 mile and 1.5 miles and switch paces so you can run them without producing lactic acid.  Remember, when you get that feeling, slow down!  You are doing more damage than good!

I remember my progress when I started running though.  At about 30 lbs overweight, I started running daily.  My first runs for 4-5 days barely hit 10 minutes (1 mile).  After the first five days, I did another 3-4 days to 13 or 14 minutes.  Each day, going as far as I felt I could, not by distance.  After 2 weeks, I was running 20 minutes per day for about 2 miles.  It took another week or two after that to begin doing 30 minute and 40 minute runs where I was doing 3 miles +.   I was still overweight at this point, but going every single day.  Took about 4 months to lose about 35 lbs.

Long story short, a month or two depending on your starting fitness.

  10. 1. get good running shoes if you don't already

    2. drink a lot of water

    3. eat healthier

    4. maybe have a longer stride, get comfortable with a new pace

    5. push yourself. go 2 miles next time

    6. don't walk if you do now. if you don't walk, you feel a lot better about yourself when you're done running and then you feel better running.

  11. Mama says they was magic shoes. They could take me anywhere.

  12. Always read the ingredients of stuff. dont get somthing that has any acid like coke has citric acid!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and try not to eat much oranges they are pretty much made of acid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. you need to make sure that you are hydrating enough and eating healthy. to get to your three miles soon, keep adding a half mile. soo you should run a mile and a half for about a week, or until it comes easy to you. then you should move up to 2 miles, the 2.5, then 3. you just have to slowly add more distance and you should be up to three miles in no time.
