Feels like I have hit something, but haven't. Only does it when turning the wheel in reverse. literally feels like i have hit a wall.Sharp short stop, throws you forward.

Steering wheel does feel like it's pulling to the left when driving normally. I have reversed and applied brakes in straight line, and have no problem. Can anyone help? Thanks

  1. Yep brakes will do that every time!  Make you stop

  2. Sounds like you either have a bad cv axle or a busted motor mount.

  3. rear shoes may be collapsed locking it up in reverse,or the rear bearings are failing.

  4. Check that the front suspension is correctly aligned, it almost sounds like a wheel is hitting an arch - you don't have oversized tyres on it by any chance?

  5. The problem is you are using your hand brake to stop and the shoes are locking in the drum. I assume it doesn't happen when you travel forward. You should always use the foot brake to stop and the hand brake to secure the vehicle and always leave it in gear. Don't use the handbrake to stop the vehicle.

  6. check there is nothing stuck under your wheel arch, or your tracking or balancing is out.

  7. Desert Camel is on the right lines I think.Somethnig in the brake drum,or shoes fitted wrong way round,[leading edge]or possably a front brake calipher that is loose.Have the pads been changed recently, are the allen key bolts tight GL

  8. hmm ur brakes stop the car..... i dont get the problem

  9. You have excess play in your rear brake shoes and they are digging in when forced backwards . Solution renew brake shoes and make sure they are ajusted correctly, you may be able to ajust your old ones but with that much play i doubt it.
