FORD FOCUS THE SAME AS COUGaR?

Is the 00' FORD FOCUS 4CYL, 2.0L, AND 00' MERCURY COUGAR 4CYL,. 2.0L. Are these two cars the same in engine wise, since i can't find any performance parts like catback exahusts for my cougar, do ford focus parts fit my car???

The cars are not the same.  The engine may be but the car is not.  Catback exhaust will not neccessarily be interchangable, exhaust shop would know for sure.

To sum up a Cougar, a Celica took a dump one day and the Cougar was born.  Sorry, I just think that's funny.

On another note, some trivia that I don't even know if it's true, but I heard this from a guy once.  The Cougar was originally supposed to be released as a rear wheel drive car with a 4.6 V8 in it and at the last minute Ford scrapped the idea and made it a FWD.  Any way supposedly you can convert the Cougar to a RWD 4.6 liter setup without having to modify the floor or chassis.  I don't know if it's true because I'm to apathetic to research it but hey, anything is possible.

the motor might be the same but the exhaust will not fit right even if it is because they are two completely different cars. below are a few links that may help ya out.
