FP3 ends with Lewis Hamilton topping the table once more – Formula 1 news
The FP3 concluded earlier today and it has put more confusion in the minds of supporters and the gurus of the sport.
Lewis Hamilton once again topped the charts with the best lap time of 1 minute 25.681 seconds and showed that the McLaren is in fact the leading car on the grid, but under him was Romain Grosjean at 1 minute and 25.758 seconds the Lotus driver. This furthers
the case of Lotus as a strong outfit for the season.
Mark Webber was the leading Red Bull driver at number three with the best time of 1 minute 25.900 seconds. The Aussie has tipped this to be a much improved season for him and so far he has been able to outrun his team-mate and two time world champion Sebastian
Vettel who again looked to have some trouble with the new car and only managed to place 7th with a time of 1 minute 26.211 seconds. To give some perspective to Vettel’s run the German slid his car on to the gravel which allowed the slip to the 7th fastest
time of the day.
Jenson Button was placed at 4th in the other McLaren at 1 minute 25.906 seconds both the McLaren drivers have shown good pace with the new car.
At number five was Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg with a time of 1 minute 25.929 seconds just above his team-mate Michael Schumacher at 1 minute 26.078 seconds. Both the drivers have shown good speed and the F-duct factor has tipped them to be in a very strong position
but the extent of their advantage over other due to legal F-duct remains to be seen. The qualifiers will give a clearer picture of that.
Williams driven by Pastor Maldonado was at number 8th at 1 minute 26.470 seconds. The impressive Sauber was at 9th driven by Sergio Perez with the best time of 1 minute 26.632 seconds.
Both the Toro Rosso were placed at 10 and 11. Daniel Ricciardo was narrowly ahead of his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne. Their times were 1 minute 26.723 seconds and 1 minute 26.737 seconds respectively.
Kimi Raikkonen was at number 12th with the best time of 1 minute 26.737 seconds slightly above Sauber’s Kamui Kobayashi who had 1 minute 26.755 seconds. Nico Hulkenberg who was at 2nd place in FP2 ended up at 14th at 1 minute 27.029 seconds.
Bruno Senna was at 15th with a best time of 1 minute 27.119 seconds. Below Senna was the unpredictable Ferrari driven by Fernando Alonso at 1 minute 27.323 seconds.
Paul di Resta came in at 17th with 1 minute 27.428 seconds just above Felipe Massa who was at 1 minute 28.023 seconds.
The last spots were with Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov in the Caterham, below them were the two Marussias with Timo Glock above Charles Pic. At the bottom of the table were the HRT drivers with Pedro De la Rosa above Narain Karthikeyan.
