is there anyway to check someones criminal background for FREE online???

Try looking up public records! http://www.crimcheck.com has an extensive public records section that you can use for free!

Check the sheriffs office website for jail records.  I know of a couple sites in TX, for Dallas and Denton county.

I don't think there are any free websites for finding criminal records. I've looked before, and other people in similar threads say the same thing, however I do know of a very accurate site, thats also very cheap. Try http://www.v1g.org
