FSV Mainz 05 have acquired the services of Nigerian youngster, Anthony Ujah, for the upcoming 2011/12 season. The player is yet to have a medical with Mainz but has agreed upon other terms with the Bundesliga outfit and will soon be landing in Germany. Ujah
will be replaced by fellow Nigerian, Oke Akpoveta, at Lillestrom.
The 20-year-old would feature for the Carnival Club during the next season and Lillestrom will receive 2.5 million Euros for the striker. The club would receive a further 500,000 Euros once Ujah makes 10 appearances for Mainz. The Nigerian seemed delighted
at this move and was already looking forward to play in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. The player regarded Bundesliga as one of the best leagues in the world.
Lillestrom officials confirmed about their player’s deal with Mainz but expressed disappointment at the youngster’s decision. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723 manager, Henning Berg, believes that Ujah’s departure won’t do any favours and the club will have to look for a replacement
sooner rather later. He hailed the player’s contribution at the club and wished him all the best for his future in Germany.
Ujah had also attracted interest from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991 but decided to go with the German option. The player would now be landing at Coface Arena for his medical after which he will officially be regarded as a Die Nullfunfer player.
The player also invited interest from Spanish outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Mallorca, during the last season’s January transfer window but the two parties failed to agree on personal terms.
The Nigerian joined the Norwegian-based outfit in 2010 and managed 36 league appearances, netting an incredible 27 times during the process. He started his career with the Nigerian outfit, Warri http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 F.C, in 2008 and bagged 13 goals in return during his
one-year stay at the club. The 20-year-old is yet to make his international debut for the Nigerian national side and recently received a call-up for the Nigerian U-23 outfit.
Ujah will be replaced by his countryman, Akpoveta, as soon as the 20-year-old passes the Mainz medical.
