Question:

FSX Autopilot problem?

I use FSX Accelerated with Overland's World Airlines for FSX installed. Whether I use FSX default Aircraft or Overland's World Airlines, the problem is the same.

The Problem:

Everytime I accelerate the flight rate over 4x normal time with Autopilot ON, the aircraft's altitude fluctuates depending on the rate I have accelerated by..i.e if I set it to 8x normal time, the plane's altitude jumps to +/- 700ft from the altitude set. If i set it to 16x normal time (which is MAX with Autopilt ON) the plane then fluctuates +/- over 1000Ft.

With Autopilot OFF however, I can hold the Aircrafts Altitude in 64x normal time with absolutely no issues so I doubt its a Joystick calibration issue.

Hope this info is enough for a solution out there.

My Config is is as follows:

Win Vista Ultimate with SP1

FSX Accelerated

FSUIPC 4.28

Logitech Force 3D Pro

Intel Q6600 Quad Core 1066FSB 2.40Ghz

Corsair Dominator TWIN 2x2048 - 8500 C5DF 1066 FSB

Asus EN9800GX2 Graphics

Gigabyte GA-EX38-DQ6

  1. no way to correct this.

    autopilot has limitations too.

it overcorrects and then overcompensates, and that's how you got your fluctuations.

there is no cure except no using the AP or choosing a lower time compression setting.

  2. Fly 700ft +/- the altitude you want to fly at.

  3. It's a problem with most addon autopilots- they correct for a slight altitude change, and go to far, then correct back, etc.- no way around it I'm afraid, excpet turning the AP off.
