FTR plans revealing new Moto3 machine with Maverick Vinales – MotoGP news
British based FTR motors will hit the track with its new Moto3 machine at Almeria circuit, Spain. The 16 year Spanish rider, Maverick Vinales from 125cc will be given the opportunity for track debut.
The young Spaniard competed with Blusens team in the 125cc category. Now with the introduction of the new four stroke 250cc machines under Moto3 class the two-stroke 125cc machines will be obsolete.
FTR Boss Steve Bones said, “We did have the bike in Valencia and it was very well received and we had a lot of good interest in it. We’ve got the Honda engineers coming to the test and we start to get the project ready and prepared for next year.”
FTR’s new chassis M311 will be powered by Honda NSF250R engine. The Spanish based team continues with FTR in the basic category. The team is preparing for the inaugural Moto3 season.
Vinales has won four races in the 2011 125GP season and ended his championship in third place. He also collected nine podiums in the 2011 season.
FTR has also been in news in 2011 season due the reports that it has been commissioned by Ducati to design and build an aluminium frame for the Desmosedici GP11.
The British-based chassis company developed a full aluminium version of original Ducati concept but faced failure to improve performance on track.
On the other hand, FTR is also working on a MotoGP CRT project with BQR. The machine will be powered by the Kawasaki ZX-10R engine.
Bones added that FTR is testing its bike with the best rider in the class in Spain. The team is delighted to have him as the test rider.
Bones added, “For us the Honda is a no-brainer. Honda is really behind Moto3, you know the engine will make the horsepower that’s required and it will make it to the end of the race. The Honda engine is the safe choice.”
Honda being the choice for power plant, FTR claims to be having the most reliable engine on the track. Others are having risk but Honda has no parallel in performance and reliability.
The team is known in the class and has an image to bring a strong and competitive bike on the track. The collaboration partners have confidence to work with BQR.
