Question:

FWD/4WS vs. RWD vs. AWD? (Honda Prelude vs Lexus SC400 vs Subaru Impreza)?

I am considering either a 1992-1996 Honda Prelude 4-cylinder VTEC, an FWD car with 4-wheel steering, a RWD Lexus SC400 V8, or an AWD Subaru Impreza 1993-200? (Not neccessarily WRX or STi). Which would be the best buy for a man who may need to pick up a younger brother from school and would like some degree of sportiness or weekend fun as well? Maybe a bit of off-roading? I don't have a family or plan to start one for a long time. Please take both gas prices and fun factor into account.

  1. if your gonna get a prelude go with the 5th gen from 97-01 theyre the best ludes. the prelude has a lot of potential tons of mods, the sc400 is a beast good luck with gas prices on that, the impreza 2.5rs is an ok car, it comes with awd but no turbo or anything. id go with the prelude most efficent and reliable.

  2. None of these car can go off roading stock. I would get the Imprezza. As the other models are kind of dated.

  3. almost all cars that have AWD are best suited for snow or maybe a good dirt road.

if your needing a real off road vehicle your best bet will be a

    Subaru or

    Nissan Xterra or Toyota 4Runner

you'd get stuck in the mud with a prelude or a Lexus.

  4. off-roading?  you better widen your scope.  just get the newest lowest mileage car you can afford.
