Fabian Cancellara appreciated Team Sky performance at the Tour de France 2012
Fabian Cancellara was leading the Tour de France right through the start of the race but the cyclist had to surrender in front of the mighty Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky.
He appreciated the strong Team Sky performance during the race and noted that the British team has numerous match-winners in its side.
"When you see how Sky was born and how they are performing now – better and better – it shows that they've been working really hard".
“That's normal. It's the same as when we saw Tony Martin becoming better and better at time trialling; it's just a demonstration that the whole team is growing”.
"They have a hard Tour de France now for sure because Bradley has said they will not throw it (the yellow jersey) away or give it away. But now there are hard mountain stages and yeah, I think we will see them pulling a lot".
Team Sky is currently leading the UCI World Tour Team’s rankings with a total amount of 803 UCI points in its bag.
Team Katusha is 87 points behind at the second position with Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step and Team Astana holding the third, fourth and fifth positions in the respective order.
Team Sky continued its terrific performance at the most anticipated cycling race of the season, the Tour de France with Bradley Wiggins leading the stage 9 classifications.
Wiggins succeeded during the stage 9 of the Tour and extended his overall lead to 1 minute and 53 seconds over Cadel Evans of Team BMC.
Cancellara himself sits on the 32nd overall spot after the stage 9 classifications and is 14 minutes and 33 seconds behind the leader.
