Fabian Cancellara happy to return after the Tour of Flanders crash
Fabian Cancellara of Team RadioShack-Nissan is currently seen in action at the Bayern Rundfahrt 2012.
The cyclist started the new season on a high note with a first place finish at the Strade Bianche and also succeeded during the stage 7 of the race.
He rode brilliantly during the Milan-San Remo and was looking good for an overall victory at the race but could not match the likes of in-form Simon Gerrans of Team Orica GreenEdge.
Fabian was looking good for the coming races of the season but was unfortunate to have end-up in a disastrous crash during the Tour of Flanders 2012.
While commenting on his return at professional cycling, he cited, “I feel normal now. I expected that some time would need to go by, maybe two or three days of racing before I would feel ok” but in general I’m good”.
“The climb was really hard but I’m happy to be back in the environment of a race and cycling in general”.
“For sure I suffered because of so many weeks without the intensity of racing”.
“And I know small things will affect me for a while, but this is normal as I get back into the rhythm of racing. I’m satisfied.”
The 31-year-old started his professional career with Team Mapei-Quick Step in 2001 and stayed with the team by the end of 2002 season.
He also represented Team Fassa Bortolo (2003-05), Team CSC (2006-10), Team Leopard Trek (2011) and finally penned a deal with Team RadioShack-Nissan for the 2012 season.
Fabian’s most recent performance came during the Milan-San Remo as he occupied the second overall position after the race.
