Fabian Cancellara wins the 2012 Swiss Road Championships, Time Trial event
After a disappointing end to the Tour de Suisse, Fabian Cancellara finally pleased his fans with an astonishing performance during the Swiss Road Championships.
He completed the 50 kilometre Elite Men race in an impressive time of 1:00:39.34 and occupied the top podium spot.
Thomas Frei of Team Christina Watches-Onfone and Martin Elmiger of Team Ag2r La Mondiale secured the second and the third positions respectively.
Fabian was delighted after the stage win, “It’s an honour to wear to the colours of your country," he briefed.
"The race was only twenty kilometers from my home so this win is extra special".
Fabian opened his 2012 winning account with a first place finish at the Strade Bianche and also secured the Individual Time Trial stage 7 of the Tirreno-Adriatico.
He rode brilliantly at the Milan-San Remo and was looking good to claim the top overall position.
The cyclist finished almost at the same time and was awarded a second overall position at the race.
Patricia Schwager of Team GSD-Gestion wins the 25 kilometre Elite Women category of the race.
She completed the pursuit in a total time of 0:35:10.09 and occupied the top podium position with Jutta Stienen and Andrea Wolfer finishing at the second and the third positions.
Silvan Dillier dominated the 25 kilometres, Under 23 category of the race while Jutta Stienen and Andrea Wolfer achieved the second and the third spots.
