Fabian Delph believes Ashley Young is ‘irreplaceable’ at Aston Villa – EPL News
Talented Aston Villa youngster, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Young-c6813, is irreplaceable at the Villa Park after the 25-year-old completed a £17 million switch to Manchester United.
After being heavily linked with a move to number of European clubs, the 25-year-old decided to join the Barclays Premier League Champions.
Delph believes Young was the prized asset of Aston Villa and said, “I don’t think he could be replaced, to be honest with you.”
He hailed Young’s contribution to the club and believes that the English winger played a crucial part in helping Villa finish in the top half of the table.
“With his goals and assists it will be very hard to replace him, but if we can get somebody here half as good as him then he would still be a great player.” He added.
Young was a crucial member of the Aston Villa squad that finished ninth last season despite enduring a poor start to the Barclays Premier League campaign last term. Delph also praised Young’s unselfish attributes and his work ethics on the pitch and said, “You get a lot of players, who are not selfish, but do more of their work in the attacking half of the pitch whereas Young is up and down.”
The youngster revealed that Young played a huge part in helping him settle at the Villa Park and has admitted that the winger’s presence will be missed at the club.
He said, “I’m gutted to see Young go, he played a big part in involving me, putting an arm around me and involving me,.”
Aston Villa signed Young from Watford in January 2007 for £9.75 million. The 25-year-old spent almost five successful seasons at the Villa Park, where he scored 38 goals in 190 appearances.
