Luis Fabiano Happy Right Where He is
The World Cup can provide thrills, new stars and changes. Brazil’s star Luis Fabiano has decided now that he would rather stay with his club Sevilla, rather than join A.C Milan in Serie A.
Fabiano announced his intentions shortly following Brazil’s quarter-final exit in South Africa.
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani claimed that he was looking to put together a deal for the Brazilian striker and said he “hoped to see” him at the San Siro next season.
The Milan boss has now retracted this claim, due to Fabiano’s desire to stay at Sevilla and the high price of bringing him in to A.C Milan.
Galliani claimed that in order to afford to bring in the Brazilian, he would first have to sell “another great player” and said that he didn’t want any of Milan’s big name players to leave.
"Let's leave Luis Fabiano be, he belongs to Sevilla. There are no negotiations going on," Galliani said. "In order to come here a great or very great player has to leave Milan. And for me Luis Fabiano is a very great player."
With A.C Milan apparently out of the picture, Manchester United has been linked as a possible destination for Fabiano. While there was speculation that Fabiano was seeking a move to one of the two clubs, he now has told the Sevilla president he is very happy with where he is.
"I spoke with him and the sporting director and told them I would like to stay at Sevilla," said Fabiano.
"I know there has been talk about me wanting to play for another club, but I told the president that this was not true, I never said anything like this," added the footballer.
So now with Fabiano apparently staying right where he is, what else can Manchester United do to improve their team? The Red Devils are a step behind Chelsea right now in the Premier League and likely have to move fast if they are looking for a big name player.
While Fabiano is happy with Sevilla, a very generous offer may sway Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido: “I can see Fabiano staying. So far we have nothing on the table, but we don’t want to have to reject ridiculous offers,” he revealed.
If you’re looking for an estimate as to what it would take to purchase the Brazilian striker, it would take a nice round figure of about £30 million.
Fabiano did once state that it would be a dream to play with Rooney, but later stated that he was happy at Sevilla. The striker has one year left on his contract.
In reality, Fabiano would be a great addition for the Red Devils. He played a great World Cup tournament with three goals in five games.
This past season at Sevilla, Fabiano scored 21 goals in 34 appearances to bring his total to 94 in 190 games since he joined the club in 2005.
It might come down to the old saying of “everybody has a price” regarding a transfer of Fabiano. Fabiano wants to stay, Sevilla would probably want to keep him, but business is business. You can’t control what the businessmen do and if Manchester United is willing to open the checkbook, they could probably land the striker.
It certainly would be a thrill to watch Fabiano and Rooney play together and they could be a deadly combination for the Red Devils. We’ll just have to wait and see if that possibility comes true or not. Manchester United is desperate to regain their status as the Kings of English football and rise back to the top of European football, so expect at least one big move by the club this summer. It could be Fabiano, we just never know.
