Women’s 100m butterfly crown. Additionally, the Men’s 100m butterfly title was taken over by Tim Phillips of United States of America.
French athlete and Olympic medallist, Fabien Gilot was facing his rivals, Nabil Kebbab of France and Cullen Jones of United States of America in a vital match. The final heat began in a thrilling fashion, but Gilot did not lose his speed and thrashed the
finishing wall in a mouth shattering mark of 47.89 seconds to claim the Men’s 100m freestyle title. After the race, Gilot took a huge ovation from Genova’s arena.
Gilot was the silver medallist in 4x100m freestyle event at the 2008 Olympic Games, in Beijing. In addition, he won one gold medal in the respective race at the 2010 World Championships edition, in Dubai. Moreover, he performed well during the European Championships
events throughout his career.
