Chelsea striker on loan to Swansea City Fabio Borini admitted his short career at Stamford Bridge was close to its end, with the Premier League giants failing to reach an agreement with the 20-year-old on a new contract.
With the way things stand, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 under-21 international will be parting ways with Chelsea since he has not been able to sign a contract extension with the London side.
Having confirmed he would be leaving the Blues at the end of the season, Borini admitted he would like to remain in England and play for an English Premier League side.
Borini said while speaking to reporters, “It is a fact I will leave Chelsea, because I didn't renew the contract. I want to carry on playing and I would like to stay in England because it is the best football in Europe.”
The 20-year-old striker continued, “Negotiations went wrong at Chelsea so we both chose to go away and let the contract expire. At the end of the season they will get some compensation for me as a young player.
Borini revealed he could very well sign with Swansea City on a more permanent deal if the Championship manages to earn a promotion into the Premier League.
Third place Swans face Reading the Championship play-off at the end of the month at Wembley, which will determined whether or not Swansea will play Premier League football next season.
The young Italian striker admitted that the former Chelsea reserve team manager and now Swansea City manager Brendan Rogers had played a big role in him joining the Swans on a move loan in the 2010 winter transfer window.
Rogers has previously managed Borini while he was in charge of the Blues reserve, the same time Borini was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 of the Chelsea Reserves.
He admitted the Irish manager had been a great help during his spell at Liberty Stadium, during which time he has gone on to make nine appearances.
During that time Borini has found the back of the net six times, which is very impressive as compared to the 8 goal less appearances he made at Chelsea.
The Italy under-21 international said, “Brendan has been great and helped me a lot. He just got my confidence higher and higher which is very important for a young player.”
